Once upon a time

Once upon a time....

I got to invent my own bar of Ritter Sport Chocolate at the Ritter Sport Chocolate factory in Berlin.

I chose Milk Chocolate, strawberry, yogurt crispies, & mini {European} smarties {the mini M&M is it's twin brother}

It tasted pretty darn good. Plus, all the chocolate was cheap 99 there! So i got one mini bar of about half the flavors they had {they had a cajillion of options.} and then proceeded to eat 4 pieces right then and there. But don't worry, I didn't look at the calories so it didn't really count, right??.... That's how i'm looking at food here. Plus I don't even know what the heck a "Kcal" is to see how it compares to just a normal calorie.

the inside of my own chocolate creation. :D
so, in order to make you jealous i will now put the flavors of every flavor i have in my bag. {they're in German, and i don't really know what they all mean. so.... maybe you won't be quite as jealous of me eating mystery chocolate.....}

  • Pfefferminz {i'm assuming that this is peppermint. it's a teal wrapper}
  • Kakao Krokant. {i ate this one already. it's in a maroon wrapper and was dark chocolate with chocolate filling with toffee bit stuff in the filling}
  • Weisse {white. plain white. sooooo good. best white chocolate. in cream colored wrapper}
  • Weisse cocos. {white coconut. cause it has a picture of a coconut on it. Also already ate this one. It was roasted coconut in white chocolate cream in the middle. mmm}
  • caramel. {i bet you can't guess this one. :P but, it was a caramel creme thing}
  • Alpenmilch. {baby blue wrapper. i'm pretty sure this is just milk chocolate}
  • Waldbeer joghurt {wildberry yogurt i think.}
  • erdbeer joghurt {strawberry yogurt i think}
  • Nuss in praline creme {you guess}
  • Edel-Nuss {no idea. in a multi colored package. Nuss means nut though so maybe mixed nuts?}
  • Amarena Kirsch {cherry something or other i think. it has a picture of a cherry and then an ice cream cone.}
  • Haselnuss {hazelnut i think. i love hazelnut.}
  • Edel-vollmilch {i don't know what this is...}
  • Schoko-Duo {maybe 2 chocolates together?}
  • Nugat {this is some sort of hazelnut becuase everywhere that says nugat here means pretty much the same thing as Nutella.}
all of that, plus the one i made for under 5 euros. :D
and that's all for now. Don't judge me on how much chocolate i will consume in the next few days, okay?

And this song played while we were eating our chocolate at the little cafe thing. And I liked it, so here it is.

We went to a Birkenstock store. and I tried some on. But, there were a few problems. A-they were expensive. B-they were really not that comfortable. so C-I didn't even have a hard time not buying them. :D

And we went to a halocaust memorial and saw the brandenburg gate lit up and around random places here in berlin, but i'm really tired and going to bed because it's 1am here.

Also, in case you haven't seen this yet, you might want to. I know i'm abnormally sappy, but i kind of teared up during this. I think guys should take advice from this guy on his proposal skills. Cause this was unique and sweet and well thought out.

Mom- don't read this part

I got my first sun burn. :(

it wasn't bad at all and now it's just a tan. but it's kind of funny because you can totally see the strap of my purse and Camera.

All 3 stores I've looked for sunscreen at didn't have any. I'm going to have to be more persistent in this now. But, my toms tan line is coming along so that's a plus. Also, my legs look soooo white compared to my arms.

The Most Romantic Park. Sigh

So basically I’m just going to tell you about this amazing park that I went to yesterday. In Dortmund, Germany.

You know those movies, mostly in romantic comedies probably, where this adorable couple madly in love go on an amazingly romantic date to a park that is so incredibly beautiful, surreal, and fairy-tale-like, and then they end up falling in love deeper or he proposes or they just have a tender pic-nic? {sorry for the mega run-on sentence} Welp, I just found that park, people. And I am bound and determined that when I fall in love with the person I’m going to marry, we’re going to go to a park just like it. Go check my “things I will do” list at the top of this blog on a tab. It’s now on there.

Seriously though, it’s like I was on the set of a movie.

{yes, no one needs to tell me I’m an incredibly hopeless romantic. I’ve known this my entire life. I just love, love. K? No big deal.}

This park was so lusciously green.

There was a little carousel that kids were happily riding on; a playground kids were running around and playing on.

Adorable German daddies that were giving their toddlers piggy back rides or teaching them how to kick a soccer ball. {that makes a girl’s heart goes awww!! Seriously, what is more adorable than a dad who loves their kids so much? Not very many things.}

Old couples that were helping each other walk with canes and walkers. It reminded me of president and sister Hinckley. So. Cute.

There was a dance floor where couples were legitimately dancing. Like the tango, waltz, and a ton of other dances. They were really good! And they looked so happy and in love! I want to learn how to dance like that!!

The dance floor, when it got dark, turned into the young kids {my age ish} dance. They played popular American songs and I got my groove on with Whitney, Addie, and Lindy.  Because that’s how American’s dance.  We don’t know how to do the romantic kind. Just the kind that looks ridiculous. “Embrace the weirdness, own the weirdness.” –Whitney

I saw a fe people playing badminton. {Betsy, I thought of you.}

There was this game where people were rolling these metal balls down this court thing. Lindy said, “Bowling meets horseshoes.” Which kind of looked like it was true. They were old guys who were playing.

People were having Picnics. Couples on dates kissing on their blankets.
Everyone had a BBQ. We bought German bratwurst and grilled with red and orange peppers and it was delish!!

The people on the study abroad doing 19th century work brought their tent and were doing tintypes via the collodian process. So they had their 8x10 cameras out on big tripods and were getting people to model for them and then the park took on an even more movie-like quality. People would go up to them and ask what they were doing and took a particular interest in the process because most of them had never seen that kind of thing done before.

We met some photo students from the college of photography there in Dortmund that were in the park and helped them with a random photo project they were doing.

There were gorgeous purple flower bushes throughout the park.

There were food vendors and booths selling things.

A live band playing music and most of it was in English!

An outdoor movie theatre thing were the huge soccer game London vs. Berlin was playing and people were so excited about it!

This park was seriously amazing.

The only things that could have made it better would have been-
No cigarette smoke
And
If there was some sort of pond or river or water feature.

Here’s a funny part though. You know how in movies there are usually homeless people in the big city parks that try to steal your food or things or dig through the trash? Well, here, the bums steel your water bottles or pop bottles because they can turn the bottle in to most any store and get 25 cents per bottle!! I saw this happen with my own two eyes! I think 3 or four people in our group got their drink bottles stolen when they were not even 10 feet away from where they were sitting. Mine never got touched, which is weird because I’m pretty sure it was less hidden than everyone else’s. The bums literally had 3-4 huge bags of bottles! I should have been doing this too! I need some extra money!
the dance floor
If America started doing this, there’d be a lot less littering.

Anyways, to say the least, I’m in love with this park.

I want to put like 50 pictures up, but every where we’ve stayed has incredibly slow and annoying internet. For some reason, blogger takes soooo long to upload pictures and facebook is a lot faster, so hopefully I can put pictures up there soon.

Happy Sunday. I’m in Cologne, Germany now.

p.s. I’m in need of a large dr pepper. I’m scouting one out tomorrow. None of this coke crap. They have 6 drinks here- coke, diet coke, fanta, apfel {apple} juice, sparkling water, and this weird stuff that’s like my brother’s “suicide” drink where a few flavors are mixed together. Oh, and beer. Lots and lots of nasty smelling beer.

Oh, ya know, just a few love songs and such.

Last night I watched a movie called "one day" with anne hathaway. on the cover is a very very cute kiss. I kind of swooned over how adorable it was. In case you don't know what "swoon" means, click here. It's uraban dictionary. Which can kind of be sketchy sometimes, but I think this one is for the most part okay. Hopefully. I didn't read it all.
i just am a big fan of that kiss.

Don't worry, i'm just kinda a hopeless romantic at heart.

I was listening to Pandora on the station "Ingrid" and these 2 songs played back to back. and then I thought, "self, I like these songs" and so here they are.

to make you feel my love- Adele
Do you like the name Adele? I think it's cute. :D

I Never Told You-

p.s. Want to know something that totally rocks? Being able to use Taylor as a reference on my resume because he was my boss! haha. I think it's grand. :) I mean, out of all my references on my resume, he knows me best.

Also, I just applied for a job that I really hope I get. :D I'll tell you what it is if I end up getting it.

Thought Thursday +fun too

I'm in the photo lab at this moment. My film is taking a bath for 20 minutes longer and I don't have enough time to start anything new before i have to head to my class.
so that leaves me to blog. And after all, it is Thought Thursday.

 In general conference there was a talk titled "Love her Mother" by Sister Dalton

she said, “The most important thing a father can do for his daughter is to love her mother.”

"Within a few weeks our three sons will have given their baby daughters a name and a blessing. I hope this will be the first of many priesthood blessings they receive from their fathers, because in the world in which they will grow up, they will need those blessings. Your daughter will cherish the priesthood and determine in her heart that this is what she wants in her future home and family."

I think this quote is so true. You can read her whole talk here.

In institute yesterday the lesson was all about Christ and women. I've never had a lesson like it before. There are some pretty cool stories that I had heard before, but never have thought about in the same way.

My institute teacher said a few things to the girls in the class that really stood out to me.

The first one was something like- Girls, you base too much of what you think your personal worth is based on what the gentlemen think of you. you have an instinct inside of you that needs a guys attention and love. While the world tells you, you don't need them, you do. Guys-because you know this, make sure you help them feel like the daughters of God that they are. And you guys need the girls just as much as they need you.

self-do i do this? ummm... i think i do? {the whole self worth based on dumb boys}. Not nearly as much as some girls, but this is kind of a natural thing. I feel like I'm confident and I always say "who even needs guys anyway?". Maybe i should not say that anymore....? Let's be honest, i now that's not true. But gee whilackers that would make my life easier right now. *sighs*

Also, the first 2 people that Christ appeared to after he was resurrected were women. I did not ever think of those stories in that way. I thought that was interesting considering he could have appeared to his apostles first.

On Sunday, we got a book all about the Relief Society and all the women in the church are supposed to read it. He read a couple paragraphs from it and it sounds pretty cool. I'll add that to my LONG list of "things to do" list. There's a problem though. For every one item i get crossed off, it seems 3 items are added. It'll work out, it always does.

side note/question- i wish there was an equivalent for the word "guys" in feminine form. Because girl sounds really little, but women sounds like an old lady and young women sounds like high school/puberty age . Boy sounds little, man sounds really old, young man sounds high school... but the male also has the word "guy" to use. Which sounds perfect in a lot of contexts. And granted, the word guy sometimes is a unisex word, there still is not a word equivalent to "guy" for the female personage. plus, sometimes i feel like a male when people refer to me as a "guy". just kidding, i don't. haha Maybe i'll start using the word "gal". My grandma calls me and my girl-friends that all the time. hmm....

Well, my film is done bathing. Now i get to go add "bubble bath" {photo flo}

until next time-- think of me becoming even paler in the darkroom while you all get to go out and have romantic picnics because the weather is near perfect {slightly chilly but who cares if you have someone to keep warm with}. One day I'm going to buy a cute checkered blanket and a wooden picnic basket and am going to sit under a big maple tree and have a picnic with a really attractive guy/man while the leaves fall down on us. Then maybe we'll kiss. And i am soo adding this to my kissing list now. I'm such a hopeless one. haha. :D

I can't help it.

you know how songs tell a story? And sometimes they kind of {kind of} apply to your life? well THIS song came on when i was listening to pandora while I made my journals. {which BTW if you were wondering, turned out beautifully.} I love Ingrid. And this song. I like Elvis's version, but i'm a woman, and so is Ingrid, so it works better with the whole thing of 'applying to my life' shenanigans. {p.s. did you know that's a real word??? HERE's the definition... i don't necessarily think i used it right. but i'll leave it there anyways.} Where was i going with this? oh yeah, the song, "i can't help falling in love". here are the lyrics. and i'm going to add my life in parenthesis to the side of each line if i choose. :D

Wise men say, {and women like my mom}
only fools rush in, {but i'm not}
but I can't help falling in love with you. {or like}

Shall I stay, {but i have to go back to school!}
would it be a sin, {probably not...}
if I can't help falling in love with you. {/like}

Like a river flows surely to the sea,
darling so it goes,
somethings are meant to be. {it is possible}

Take my hand, {for reals!!!!}
take my whole life too, { :D }
for I can't help falling in love with you.

Like a river flows surely to the sea,
darling so it goes,
somethings are meant to be. {we shall see}

So won't you just please {please!}
Take my hand, {Did you see i asked nicely?}
and take my whole life too, {go ahead. :D }
cause I can't help falling in love with you. {might be}

cause I can't help falling in love with you.
yep, i think it could apply.
I also think THIS song applies to my life in some ways too. First off. Carrie Underwood is amazing. second of all i kinda understand this song better now.
"the night before"
Sittin' up on the roof {or in his car}
Sneakin' a smoke by the chimney {drinking a dr pepper}
Checkin' out the moon and the city lights {or the ducks and swings at nielson's grove}
He takes off his flannel shirt {he's not a cowboy though...}
And he drapes it around her shoulders
Slides up behind her and holds on tight {or next to}
And she says, "I don't want this night to end
Why does it have to end?" {perfect}

Tomorrow she'll be rollin' down I-10 Baton Rouge {in a few days she'll be headed up I-15 Logan}
LSU 18 years in her rear view {USU 19 and a half years}
He's got a Friday paycheck lined up down the block {actually in Murray}
At daddy's shop, it ain't much but it's a job {scratch out 'ain't much' and daddy's shop}
They've been dreadin' this moment all summer long
The night before life goes on {4 nights before}

Ooh, a tear falls off her cheek and {this will most likely happen when it IS the night before}
Right when it hits his arm he says {i hope my sad tears don't land on his arm. that seem kinda awkward}
"Come on baby, lets get outta here" {aww!}
They take one last drive around town {i know this is true}
And man it already looks different
He bangs the wheel and says
"Life ain't fair and this growin' up stuff man I don't know
I just don't wanna let you go" {aww! this would be pretty cute actually!}

Tomorrow shell be rollin' down I-10 Baton Rouge {in a few days she'll be headed up I-15 Logan}
LSU 18 years in her rear view {USU 19 and a half years}
He's got a Friday paycheck lined up down the block {actually in Murray}
At daddy's shop, it ain't much but it's a job {scratch out 'ain't much' and daddy's shop}
They've been dreadin' this moment all summer long
The night before life goes on {4 nights before}

Yeah, that's what my momma told me {don't you hate it when mom's right?}
And just like those kids
I didn't wanna listen to no one
Yeah, there's nothin' you can do
There's nothin' you can say
And I know how it feels when love goes away {tis true}

Tomorrow she'll be rollin' down I-10 Baton Rouge {in a few days she'll be headed up I-15 Logan}
LSU 18 years in her rear view {USU 19.5 years}
He's got a Friday paycheck lined up down the block {actually in Murray}
At daddy's shop, it ain't much but it's a job {scratch out 'ain't much' and 'daddy's shop'}
They've been dreadin' this moment all summer long
But here it is they don't have long {frowny face}
The night before life goes on {sad truth}
so there you have it, my life {sorta} in 2 songs.

Ward Business time-

Quinton had his surgery on his ankle today. boo!
anyways, We {dad, mom, Em, Tay and i} were all there when he came out of recovery room. it was freakin hilarious! i video'd him but i'm kinda bad at the whole adding a video to blog thing. He said the funniest things and was so confused. it was great. definitely the most exciting thing of the day. ya know, other than cleaning the bathroom and doing a sink full of dishes. ;) Quinton's cast is PINK! because apparently they ran out of all the other colors except red. {and if you know my brother in the least, you know he wouldn't be caught dead with red on. ya know, mt view AND U of U}

I think this is going to be all for now.
loves and hugs.
xoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxox

p.s. i'll post pictorals of the journals and cards i made later. I gave one to Taylor and one for him to give his mom too. And one for my grandma. like maybe in a few days. Maybe being the key word.

i have had more fun the last 3 weeks or so than all the rest of the summer combined. And mainly because of a particularly awesome person.

work adventures, bug bites, raining mud, and a baby cradle??

with a title like that one i better get to work on making this a good post. it's my 181st post. big deal right?

okay so at work i was ridiculously bored cause i was put on "west express" aka- outer darkness. Which i hate. because it is so boring. so.... i decided to make myself un-bored.

so i created the longest paper clip chain i could. i used all of them in the black basket thing-a-ma-bob and then i took this here picture.

i'm pretty sure i was not supposed to do this. why? cause even i'll admit it is fetchin' annoying when you go to grab a paper clip and they are hooked to each other. yeah. well sorry, when i have nothing to do except twiddle my thumbs {which i'd already done so long that they were twiddled out} or "face" the pop cooler which i faithfully did every time someone touched one the only thing left to do is create a paper clip chain. AND....

decorate the pen..... Because there had been 3 pens stolen that day already and i didn't have a sticky pen holder thing to keep the pen from being hoisted again.

So i put these flashy little stickers on it that said, "paid in deli" on them so the pen was a- so hideous that no one would even want to steal it and b-would not look like any pen they'd ever had so they wouldn't think it was theirs. but mostly just "A".

anways, i got a new name tag at work. It say's "4th year of serving you." Which if you think about it, it's more of "4th year of working for you" because i'm not there for free. I get paid. So i don't really get it. But whatevs. plus, it says on the little paper to a "valued" associate. Who knew i was valued. they must really like me or something. i doubt everyone gets a music note paper....

P.S. did you guys see that randy is growing a beard????
{he's obviously on the left}
it makes him look like a mountain man/whole lot older/weird. Bob and Randy were in the store when i was making my paper clip chain and they both said hi to me. i said, "sup" okay i really just smiled and said hi back. But i nearly asked them why there was no apostrophe in the name "Harmons" it makes no sense. there last name is Harmon. and it's THEIR grocery store, so why is there no apostrophe to show possession? It really irritates me. I feel like i'm going against everything i was taught by my English teachers working for them. But hey, i get paid so this is why i don't say what's on my mind.
OH! and i think my boss got fired. But i'm still unsure of the story. I didn't really know her so i am not happy nor sad. But i think the general consensus on the "Front End" is joy.

i designed my new debit card. it's legit and going to look like this-

and don't write that number down cause it's a fake one. But don't trust me, you are more than welcome to test it out. :D

I have 3 Mosquito bites. they bite. hehe. i think i got 3 total all of last summer. Hopefully this means i am done now. There'd better not be mosquitos in heaven.

And it rained mud. And Calvin, my black car, Shows mud very well. He's talented like that.
and here are a few random pictures from my cell phone i took this summer-

look how dry we are!
look how wet they are! haha.
this sign says something to do with don't put your bums in the garden unless your a bumble bee. so they put their bums in the "garden" of rocks. :D
And there is now a cradle in my living room..... Ash and Nathan? Can we please talk? Or, mom? is there a surprise???
quinton fell asleep in more weird positions. this couch is only like 10 feet from his bedroom. why he doesn't go there?? i do not know.

grandma sent me a box of my grade school art work. i think this is constellations. i think i liked the letter "n" better than "b". it was done purposefully for a dramatic effect.

Caitlin and i take cool pictures. we're babes.

and then i went to N.Y.C. you didn't know NY had mountains like this did you??

psych! this was at the Lehi Trafalga. :D

p.s.s.s.s.s. etc. sorry for the side ways pictures. i was too lazy to switch them around because i have to go to bed to wake up at the bum crack of dawn to go watch the Hot air balloon lift off. Which is highly romantic {and also UPS men are too... romantic that is. and cowboys too.} in case you haven't read, "the time of aspen falls" if only i had a boyfriend to go with..... oh, wait.......

gotcha again! :P

i cannot wait for Lagoon on Tuesday.

nighty night.
do your self and your mothers a favor and don't end up at the hospital for burns from fireworks. Oh, and Pray for our heroic soldiers for the 4th of july especially. What studly stud muffins they are.

The long awaited post- my kissing list!

so my friend Tara said that she had made a list of al the places that she wants to kiss at. I had a short mental list, but never wrote it down. So now, whenever i watch a movie, read a book, or hear a story and i like the kiss story, it goes on my list. Some might find this weird or tacky, but i thought it was a good idea. PLUS, i'm a list person. If there is anything that could be made into a bulleted list, i've done it. {i mean, i think half of my blog posts are bulleted lists.....} So here is my kissing list. In all it's glory & dreamy-ness.

i'll save my very favorite 3-4 for the end.... just to keep you anxious.

  • i have always wanted to passionately kiss in the library. There's just always been something about the library that was appealing. Ya know, like needing a break from studying... and that break being.. sparking! pitter patter goes my little heart.

anyways, i'd love to hear about your lists. I'm always adding to mine. It's a pretty constantly opened and edited document on my computer. :D

also, one day i hope to photography a couple for each of these! it'll be a photographic goal of mine too. :D (i have the ferris wheel one!}
