Love songs, Funny story. Gemma-Kins

Let me start off by saying I'm pretty sure this is the longest I've gone without blogging in.... probably 2 years. Wow.

But there'll be a fun thing to share soon. :D So, get your excited wardrobes on.

And here's a few COUNTRY songs that I'm kind of in love with.

Be a Best friend, tell the truth
And Overuse "I love you"
Go to work, do your best
Don't outsmart your common sense
Never let your prayin' knees get lazy
And love like crazy

Always treat your woman like a lady
Never get to old to call her baby
Never let your prayin' knees get lazy
And love like Crazy

{Just a few of my favorite lines from the song.}
Let's just talk about how cute this is for a minute.
Okay, I'll stop being gushy.

Just after this next song too...

I wish I could have gone to his concert with Al and Gnat.

Okay, I lied.
one more.

I seriously love this song. It's super cute and tender.
Now, if only there's actually a guy left that is this romantic.
Sometimes I seriously doubt there is.

Anywho, I feel I owe you a funny story.

So this one time I was in Vernal visiting my friend Allison. Natalie came to visit too!
I was just about to head home {3 hour drive} and was going to feed my car some lunch. Well, I locked my keys in my car. sigh.
Let me count how many times in the one year I've had my car that I've done that. At least 5. It's ridiculous.
Well, this time, my spare key was in Orem, and I had to get home to work.
It was a trial.
This kind of rough lookin guys tried to break in for me, No success. Made me feel safer knowing that it's hard to break into calvin.
Then the other trial was that my cell phone decided it wanted to stop working 2 days previously. So I couldn't call anyone.
Allison was there, and her phone's battery was dead. So we used the gas station's phone to call her dad, who called her mom, who had to come rescue poor us. It was pitiful and heart wrenching and tramatic.
Okay, so it wasn't that bad. more just embarrassing that I always lock my keys in the car at the most awkward possible situations. {2nd time at a gas station, mind you}
I also locked them in the car the morning betsy got married. I seriously almost cried because I almost missed her coming out of the temple.

My life. There is absolutely nothing boring about it.

“The only way to get through life is to laugh your way through it. You either have to laugh or cry. I prefer to laugh. Crying gives me a headache.”
― Marjorie Pay Hinckley

What a wise woman she was.

In breaking news as of 2 days ago, My little Gemma-kins is sitting up all by herself!
What a big, strong girl she is!

via her mommy's facebook page.
I'm going to miss that giggle box.

p.s. i'm teaching her to love pearls too.
At this point, she just likes to eat mine though. You have to start somewhere, right? ;)

3 days till Logan!!!! you can tell by the packing tornado that hit my house....
Sorry mom.....

BEHOLD my life in pictures.

Okay, so all these cool blogging ladies have this thing where every once in a while they put up all their pictures from their phone and have some fancy title.

well, I don't have a fancy phone, in fact, mine will be 4 years old in october. It's a champion I tell you. It has about a million and a half scratches and spazzes {how does one spell that word?} out from time to time. But, It has this fancy thing called a camera. and the reason i bought this particular phone in the first place was because way back 4 years ago, most phones had 1.3 megapixels and when my little eyes saw this fun pink phone with a whopping 5 megapixel camera, I said, "i'm getting that one" and i did. {wow Bri, that was a wonderful mega run on sentence!!}

so, while these pictures don't really have the same pop as iphone pictures, it's pretty good for a 4 year old phone's camera, right??

p.s. my phone is called the behold. just so my title makes some sense.
p.s.s. i realize this post isn't about Betsy's wedding, I haven't had time to go through those pictures yet.

This is how Q did his hair fro his drivers license picture. what a champion.

little gemma has some rockin shades.

i hope my mom doesn't kill me for putting this up.
I got Q these swim trunk things in Germany. he's not allowed to wear them out of the house..... look at his WHITE legs though. haha

yay for new makeup!! :D

Quinton puts "smurf" cereal on his icecream... weirdo.

Betsy washing her wedding dress in a normal washer. scary moment!

Betsy's brother Andrew, taped a "Y" paper over my Aggie sticker on my car. haha

I painted my nails real cute like.

I made bridal shower cupcakes.

this is weird. I've worked there a fifth of my life?? {5th year means 4 years. FYI}
Sometimes that makes me a little sick feeling.

Harmons sells OHS stuff!! woo!

I colored real nicely in my mom's primary class. Stylish Guy if I do say so myself. :D

I'm very strongly strongly opposed to putting pictures of myself from a mirror picture because I think they're kind of extremely tacky, but, I LOVE this dress i bought! And it looks a lot better on than on the hanger. It has a lace top. :D I can't wait to wear it sunday!

grilled PB and Marshmallow sandwich.
try it for dinners!

deep in thought while sleeping on grandma

"Why is uncle Q wearing my bib with no shirt?"

I found this ferrari car thing in the OHS parking lot.
I thought it would have been a better use of this guy's money to pay for my college.... but I guess he didn't think so.

so i thought these were donkeys on the bum of this ADORABLE baby outfit, but turns out it was a zebra. If i had the money, i would have bought this for a future daughter.
baby clothes are my weakness.

I found cowboy snow boots!! once again, i wish i could put this in my hope chest.

sometimes I get bored at work and make snow flakes out of baby wipes at the register.

my grandma cobb bought me these adorable teal eyelet shoes! woo! can't wait to wear them!

this machine is at the wendy's down the street from my home. and that's emilie. it was just remodeled.
the problem with having this many flavors is.... that I still just get plain dr pepper.....
I don't like drinking soda too much. So if I'm going to drink it, Why not just drink my favorite??
emilie got raspberry coke. it was mighty tasty, actually.
my newest nails. fun summer color and sparkles.

I made myself a malt to watch the olypmpics.
notice the hundred wedding announcements on the fridge.
all my friends decided this summer would be perfect to get wed.

and these next few pictures aren't from my phone. But I doubt you even care.

happy grampy with gemma

peek a boo.
i love that her feet are on her mommy's

she loved this!

grandpa got out his dinosaur video recorder.
I'm sure he used his "camera trick" to make two of Gemma.

Welp, i'm gonna go watch some olympics, mmmkay?

and just in case you were wondering how many times I've had the hiccups today, the answer is 6. SIX! It's annoyingly painful.

4th of July and some funny advertisements

Hey Ya'll. 4th of July is practically my favorite holiday of all time. I don't like the huge stress holidays that make everyone cranky. 4th of july is low key.... for the most part. I still like being creative. I was asking my mom her opinion on something and she said, "I don't know, you're the only one in this family with the creative jeans" haha.

Anyways, {have you noticed how much I say that word?? I noticed I write that word in my journal too. I need to come up with a new transition word.} I enjoyed some great American BBQ food. It was a great treat and I missed my American food for the past 2 months sometimes.

I got to snuggle with Gemma bear.
talk about my trip.
talk with ash
it was fantastic.

I'm a fan of little triangle banners.
he dropped a hot dog right before this. haha
good work dad.

flag fruit pizza.

Funny story. My little cousins that aren't so little anymore were all playing on the hammock and they were being cute so i was going to get a picture of them all laying on it and then 2 seconds after this {which is the only picture I got of this} the whole thing tipped over and then a rule of 1 person at a time was put on it. haha. So, I didn't get a cute picture of them all snuggled on the hammock.

the cute parentals.
and now we enter the funny advertisement section of my blog.....

these first 2 were on facebook on the SAME DAY!!!

on facebook under my religion it very clearly and openly says that I'm LDS.....
they really want me to go to these muslim dating sites I guess.

this one was on my email. I don't think I'll be going for a chinese girl anytime soon or in the future.

so this is what the web thinks about me.

A- that I really really REALLY want to marry a muslim.
B- that I am lame and am single on Facebook so they have to tell me I need to find love online.
C- that I am lesbian and need a chinese woman.

All of these are false. Okay, except the single part. I'm that. But I don't think I'll be searching for MR right online.....

I'll let you know if I get any more crazy ads.

The 11 pounds that stole my heart

You know how in nearly every post while I was in Europe I would always tell you I couldn't wait to see my darling baby niece, Gemma?? Well, I have seen her every day since I got home a week ago, and I seriously am even more in love with her than before.

She learned how to roll over a few days ago and it's funny to watch her try to untuck her arm so she's not laying on it. sometimes she gets frustrated because she can't get it out from underneath her fast.

I had no idea that she became a full on drool machine while I was gone. She doesn't spit up much, but there is a constant trail of saliva falling from her mouth at nearly all times.

She loves to chew/suck really loudly on her whole fists.

she loves to blow bubbles.

When someone makes her smile, she becomes shy. she'll throw her head down or burry it into your shirt  and try to hide her tooth-less smile. It's darling.

When she's hungry, she's H U N G R Y!! And boy does she have a set of lungs to scream at you if you're not fast enough to get her bottle ready.

She fights taking naps now. She doesn't want to miss anything so she won't go to sleep easy. {at least for me}

She loves to watch TV. She just stares at it constantly. It was funny, a few days ago I was watching the olympic trials for swimming and she was laying on her back on the floor watching too and she was kicking her legs like crazy. She'll probably be a swimmer one day.

She's pretty much the most loved baby of all time. probably because she's the first, but everyone in the family is always trying to take her away from everyone else so they can hold her. Dad's the worst. He's the biggest baby hog ever. Gemma loves her grandpa though.

She's acquiring some {shiny} bald spots on her head. It makes all the boy babies think she's an even bigger babe.

She actually keeps her headbands on. I've never seen her try to take it off. Probably because ashleigh's put one on her every day since she came out of the womb.

she's good at pulling my hair.

she's a good snuggler still. Although I wish I could have taken a few more naps with her sleeping on my chest as a newborn though. That was amazing.

She laughs a lot at Quinton. The other day mom brought Gemma into his room to make him wake up and she left her there so he couldn't fall back asleep. Well Quinton sat her on his stomach and she watched him make dumb faces and stupid noises and laughed her cute little head off at him for more than 20 minutes. It was adorable to watch this. He'll make a good daddy one day.

She's been little Miss Cranky Pants a lot lately. Ashleigh thinks she's teething. Which would make sense since she chews on everything she can get her hands on.

She likes to rip paper towels and napkins.

She has this funny sound she makes when you tickle her. Like she's not sure if she should laugh or cry. It's like a grunt.

She has a sound that is her I want to cry but i'm going to laugh instead sound. Different than the tickle sound. this one reminds me of a sound my grandpa Cobb makes that we all make fun of him for.

She has a "poop face". We all know when she's pooping cause she makes a very particular face.

All of her outfits are soaked in a few minutes from her drool. And wiping the constant drool from her face is a full time job in itself. Especially when she just tries to eat the burp cloth you're trying to wipe her face off with.

She can launch a pacifier out of her mouth like it's nobodies business. She likes to take her pacifier out of her mouth with her hand and then cry cause it's no longer in her mouth. It becomes a game almost.

yesterday she ate 6 ounces of milk and then kept crying cause she was still hungry {which normally this is all she eats} and so I made her 4 more and she drank all of it. She had the biggest Gemma food baby belly of life. And I'm pretty sure she felt for her first time what it was like to be uncomfortably full because that child didn't want to move for an hour. and normally she doesn't ever stay still.

She makes the cutest expressions with her eyebrows {that are barely visible}.

You guys, being an aunt is my favorite thing in the whole world. I don't know how to be unhappy when my little Gemma bear is here! She makes everyone smile and laugh and she brings so much joy and happiness to everyone in the family. I'm so glad to be a part of her life and to get to watch her grow up.
It's still crazy to me that my sister, 14 months my senior, is married and has a baby!!  It still seems surreal to me when I think about it sometimes. It seems like just the other day {that phrase is for you Lindy} we were being mommies playing with our dolls. And now she's a real mom to a real baby! And it's so much better than pretend!

Gee whiz I love that child.

I'm going to write a 4th of july post next. with pictures of all the cute decorations I made. :D

The story of my niece {with the cutest name there ever was}. As told by her favorite aunt.

Where should I start?
The beginning is always a good place to start.

May 2009- Ashleigh graduated from high school. I told her I wanted 2 things from her: For her to get married and give me a baby niece {not a nephew for we both want to name our first sons James}

May 2010- I graduate from high school. And I keep telling her I want the same thing.

Summer 2010- She develops little crush on her boss, Nathan.

fall 2010- this crush turns into a relationship.

January 2011- Ashleigh gets engaged and the first part of my wish is coming true

March 2011- Ash and Nathan wed in the salt lake city, LDS, Temple.

april-september- wishing ash would tell us she was pregnant.

August- the big announcement that they're having a baby

november- Find out that it's indeed a girl. none of this nephew nonsense.

March- march comes and goes. No baby.

April 1- I have to go back home to Logan.

April 2-

I wake up, feel refreshed. No sign of baby. I'm in my room getting dressed to head to my first class.

10:07 am- ring ring. it's ash. I have a mini heart attack. "hello?"  "are you ready to be an aunt?" She tells me she's at the hospital and my niece will be here by dinner. {she was at a 4}

10:26- schedule the studio at school for friday to do her pictures.

11:05- leave Logan. Drive like a maniac. never driven so fast in my whole life.

12:55- I arrive at the hospital. Go see ash and nathan. I document the room and the nurse checks her. she went from a 5 to an 8 in half an hour!

1:48- rest of the family get here. They all talk to her.

2:10- we all leave the room.

2:10 - Nurse comes to check her. She's a 10!!

2:22 pm. 3 nurses run into room 4. "this baby's coming!" the doctor wasn't even in the room. he was chillin at the nurse's station. what the heck, doctor? this is my sister!! can you please go make sure she's okay??????

2:24 pm. grandpa cobb looks incredibly nervous. he has a completely blank expression on his face just looking down the hall.

2:25- she's crowning. nurse is giggling on the phone telling the doctor he should get in there.

2:31-nurse on the phone says they're telling her not to push.

2:36-Doctor went into her room.

2:37- she was born. After 1 push! the nurse said "she was meant to have babies.  She shot that baby out!"

2:40- I am writing this and am sooooo incredibly anxious!!

2:45- make baby weight guesses-

me- 7 11
Quinton- {between 6 and 12 pounds was what he said first} his real guess- 7 15
mom- 8 2
dad- 7 12
grandpa- 7 8
emilie- 7 7
grandma- 7 5.5

her real weight 6 pounds 13 ounces. 19 inches. We all over guessed. She's a little petite thing.

Gemma Petrea {puh tray uh} Nye.

3:15 ish we got to go see her for the first time.

yes, I cried. She was blowing bubbles and kept sticking her tongue out. sooo cute!!

My lucky stars this little girl stole my heart. I knew she would. But it's hard to imagine that she's here. I've been waiting my whole entire life for ash to have a baby! And she's cute too!

Well a little later. probably around 4:15 they brought her to the nursery and she was tortured! the poor thing had to get a shot in her little tiny thigh! and her foot pricked! and she screamed her tiny lungs out! And I wanted to cry too! And then when i thought it was over they gave her a total scrub down. And she hated that too. It was not fun to watch through the window.

Then. Finally. I got to hold her!!

I finally, at last, got to hold this tiny angel who just came straight from heaven! And she looked right at me.

look at her cute lil hairs! :D
she is a really really alert baby. she hasn't slept at all yet! she was looking around the whole time and trying to eat her hand and anything that came in contact with her mouth.

And then we said goodbye so mamma ashleigh could feed her. And don't you worry, I'll put some more pictures up later. :D

but here's one more, just for fun.

First family picture. Gemma is less than an hour old.

Funny Weekend Stories

This weekend was all around pretty funny.
I'm now going to share a few of them for you.

  • I was making a few hundred cupcakes with my mom for ash's baby shower and I was goofing off and she said, "let's get down to business now." So, naturally, I start singing, "Let's get down to business, to defeat the Huns!" She doesn't say anything. About 5 minutes later {she thinks it was only 30 seconds but that's false. My story is more correct....} she excitedly says, "MULAN! that song is from Mulan." haha. it was great. I said, "you're so cool, mom" She responds, "I was thinking it was from Cinderella but then I changed my mind." haha. classic.
  • Quinton at dinner tonight- Dad was talking about politics I do believe. Nothing out of the ordinary. Q says, "did you know that the unemployment rate in Japan is .01%?". Dad- "Last year at this time it was 16%! where did you hear that?" Q-"I saw it somewhere." Dad-"are you sure?" Q-"Oh, wait. Maybe that was the illiteracy rate...." Ashleigh cracked up so hard. Nathan had to calm her down 'cause he was scared her baby would come. haha
  • Sunday school lesson today. I went to my dad's sunday school class. he teaches the 14 and 15 year olds I believe...? Anyways. several funny things happened here. First-One of the kids was bragging about how he kissed a cheerleader after the state championship basketball game because he promised if Orem won {GO TIGERS!} he would. something along those lines. So we find that he kissed her on the cheek. what a super star! haha. Another kid said somthing like "You're not 16! you can't date yet!" and kissing on cheek kid said, "I just kissed her, I didn't date her!" other kid- "lucky, my mom says i'm not allowed to kiss till i'm 18!" Wow. To be that young again. I don't envy them. Super awkward stage in life. Here's the thing though {attention men of all ages}- If you're going to kiss a girl, you should at least make it a good one! {but not till your mom says you can, of course.... :P}
  • the other funny part of sunday school was something my dad said. For some reason he was talking about the bomb shelters and the drills they did when he was in high school and he said, "They'd give us this biscuit that tasted like it had been run over by a truck on the cement and had enough iodine in it that would help your thyroid not fall out in case of a nuclear bomb. Also they'd give you a cough drop that had enough sugar in it that would allow you to survive for 72 hours." I don't know where he comes up with some things. But, the kids totally believe him.... even though i'm 90% sure myself that it was made up.....?
  • In sacrament meeting I was watching the little kids most of the time. I forget how distracting a family ward is compared to the dead silence of student wards. This little boy {about 2 probably} was playing with this girl {barely walking so around a year old} sitting on the bench behind him and they were getting too loud so the mom of the boy pulled him away and told him he needed to be "more reverent". He started crying and said relatively loud, "But I love her!" Oh, my, lucky, stars. How incredibly cute is that??? He's going to grow up to be a romantic! It was quiet frankly the cutest thing i've seen in a long time. I hope they get married one day.
  • at Ashleigh's baby shower, Quinton was helping to set up. Mom told Em and I to bring a baby picture as part of the shower thing. Quinton heard this and decided to bring his entire baby album. So while mom was setting the food table up, He proceeds to set up a whole chalkboard ledge full of his baby pictures. It was fantastic. Mom saw them and told him we didn't need a Quinton shrine at Ashleigh's baby shower. he said, and I quote, "Mom, I'm sure they will really want to see how cute I was as a baby." haha. And she got distracted and forgot to make him take it down, so they were up the whole shower. :D

So you can see. Here he is with his baby pictures.
I'm not sure if he's pretending to be
a baby here, or if he's just acting weird.
Maybe all of the above?...

  • There's at least 3-5 more. But, I think that's long enough for now.

**proud aunt moment time**

Caitlin told me at the baby shower that she changed her favorite color to Orange because that's my favorite color. *beaming*

Tonight at dinner Emilie asked if she could sit by her and she said "I want to sit by Brianna"
being the favorite aunt- CHECK!

This is one thing I got for my un-born, but incredibly beautiful niece-
"I love my aunt" In the heart it says,
"Incredible, beautiful, smart" and
underneath it says, "*contact info
available upon request."
:D So true.

P.S. I went to Disneyland too..... {grandma, I really didn't}

Congrats to anyone who read that whole thing!
I'm pretty sure that Emilie is the only one who made it this far though. It was a novel of a post. And she loves novels.

Well, It's time for bed.
XOXO
